Sponorship

Get your family, friends and coworkers involved in supporting the March of Dimes and the 18 for Green 2004 Charity Golf Classic by asking them to sponsor you in the tournament to fulfill your fundraising goal. The minimum amount per golfer to play, is $160, but if you reach higher in your fundraising, it will only make the tournament more successful...

When you submit your registration fee, you'll be mailed a packet of information that will include receipts, information on the March of Dimes, and a fundraising envelope. Have supporters make a check out to the March of Dimes in whatever amount they are inspired to give, and include your name in the Memo line of the check. Or, give them one of the credit card slips, and have them donate via credit card, indicating that the donation is being made to support your fundraising goal. Checks and credit card vouchers can be mailed to the address below, or bring them to registration the morning of the tournament:

18forGreen
PO Box 18
Crownsville, MD 21032

Please do not mail donations after October 1st, 2004. You can bring all collected checks, cash and credit card vouchers with you the day of the tournament (please do not mail cash). Any amount of donations up to $80 will be applied to the outstanding balance on your $160 entry fee (provided money is still owed). Any money collected over the $160 entrance fee will be counted as fundraising for the March of Dimes and a prize will be awarded for the top fundraiser.

Fundraising can be fun and easy. Check out our Fundraising Tips for some ideas on how to get those around you motivated to help the March of Dimes. Most people want to do what they can to help out, and you'll be giving them the perfect opportunity to do so. Also, as a reminder, donations to the March of Dimes are tax deductible.

Fundraising Tips

Fundraising can be fun and easy. Below are just a few ideas that you can try, while fundraising for the March of Dimes.

  • Set your fundraising goal - reach for the sky, remember the $160 entry fee is only the minimum.
  • Create a list of potential donors - friends, family members, coworkers...
  • Invite friends, family and coworkers to an 18 for Green Golf fundraising cocktail party, poker game or happy hour at your house. Invite your friends, tell them about the event, and ask them to donate.
  • Contact a local neighborhood or popular chain restaurant and ask for the manager. Tell them about the Tournament. Ask them what their slowest night is during the week for dinner, and arrange to recruit family and friends to visit the restaurant on the slow night, and mention your name. Many restaurants will donate 5-10% of the total check to your Fundraising Goal.
  • Draft fundraising letters and mail them out to all of your potential donors.
  • Ask your donors to check and see if their companies have Matching Gift programs.
  • Give donation forms to family and friends to give to their circle of friends to expand your giving circle. Follow up with potential donors and remind them of the Tournament.
  • Follow up with everyone you've asked for a donation who hasn't given yet - send email reminders, notes, etc.
  • Send thank you notes to those who have donated. Invite them to come and watch you play, the day of the tournament.

Matching Gifts

Many companies (both large and small) offer employee matching gift programs. This means that when an employee makes a donation to a cause or non-profit organization, the corporation will “match” that donation with an equal (or greater) amount to the same group. Many of your donors may work for companies with matching gift programs and can double the impact of their donation by soliciting a matching gift from their employer.
