One in eight babies is born prematurely every day in the United States. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and can result in lifeong disabilities. Despite advances in medicine and technology, the number of premature births each year is increasing. In fact, in 2001 more than 476,000 babies were born prematurely in this country.

The March of Dimes has been working for decades to give these children and their families hope. Through medical research and scientific breakthroughs, educational campaigns, and government lobbying, the March of Dimes strives to give every child the chance that he or she deserves. This organization draws upon the awesome power of the human spirit in this country and, with that at its core, is changing the world.

You can help by participating as a golfer or providing corporate sponsorship for the First Annual "18 for Green" Charity Golf Tournament to raise money for the March of Dimes. The organization of this tournament is the result of one family's personal experience with the near loss of their baby girl who was born months early--at an incredible 1 lb 6 oz--and survived, thanks to the miracle of an incredible medical staff and advances made possible by the March of Dimes.
